The Ministry Formation Program reflects current and emerging perspectives for today’s Church in the context of our Australian society. Seminars are selected each year to reflect the following areas of knowledge and formation:
MINISTRY for MISSION
Major themes in this area are designed to be responsive to developments in Church teaching, theology and societal change in the areas of family, community, leadership, and discipleship.
PASTORAL PRACTICE
The practical application of skills and competencies for service and ministry form the framework for pastoral practice. Integral to this focus area are Community Engagement, Sacred Trust, Liturgy and Sacrament, and competencies for ministry.
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND RELATIONSHIPS
Personal development, relationship skills and foundational studies in human/spiritual development form the basis of studies in this focus area. Emotional Intelligence is both integral to the studies and a tool for discernment of leadership capacities.
SPIRITUALITY
Annual retreats and spiritual direction form the foundation for spiritual growth for leadership. Prayer and Christian spirituality deepen growth in the spiritual journey.
ACADEMIC STUDIES
Academic studies complement the above four focus areas.
According to individual goals and capacities students may be directed to tertiary studies in theology with Australian Catholic University or to certificate studies with Dayton Catholic University, Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation.
