My sisters and brothers

We come to lay Archbishop Wilson to rest, and after these last years, a rest now in the peace of Christ, the peace the world cannot give. From the reading of Isaiah today:

He who created you, he who formed you, Thus says the Lord, Do not fear, for I am with you.

We extend our condolences to all the people of the diocese, and especially to his family, to Joanne, Marie-Anne and Mark and their families. To those who worked closely with him in Church Office. To Jack and the members of his West Terrace household. To the clergy of the archdiocese, especially Mgr. David Cappo and Fr Philip Marshall and Fr Paul Cashen MSC. To those who cared for him in his illnesses.

It was my privilege to have served with archbishop Wilson as his Auxiliary Bishop, living in his house, then frequent interactions with him as a brother bishop in the neighbouring diocese, working with him in the leadership of Caritas Australia, sharing many Bishops Conferences with him, and then being asked in extraordinary circumstances to step in as Administrator and assume his duties.
