MEDIA RELEASE – Thursday, December 22 2016

Worshippers at Catholic Mass services in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral will experience the magnificent sounds of a recently installed 1927 French-Canadian pipe organ this Christmas.

The pipe organ, which originally resided in a church in Montreal, was blessed and commissioned last month and will be in full voice for the Christmas period, including at the popular Christmas carols preceding midnight Mass.

The instrument will also be played at the 6pm family Mass on Christmas Eve and at the 9am and 11am Masses on Christmas Day.

And for the first time, Mass times and locations around the State can be found via a new app developed by the Adelaide Archdiocese.

The app identifies the nearest Mass based on the user’s current location and the time of day. There is also a list of Christmas Masses in the Adelaide and Port Pirie dioceses, making it particularly useful for families on the move at Christmas time.

It can be downloaded from the Apple and Google Play stores for free. Simply search the stores for Adelaide Mass app or visit www.tiny.cc/massapp.

The app provides a map and directions to Mass centres as well as upcoming events and important information.
