The Integrity and Safeguarding Department
Keeping children, young people, and adults at risk safe
The Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide is committed to the care, wellbeing, and protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and to the nurturing of deep cultures of safety across the archdiocese. We have zero tolerance for all forms of abuse and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults in all that we do.
The Integrity and Safeguarding Department of the Archdiocese was established in October 2023 following a restructure of the archdiocese's safeguarding services. This new integrated department, under the leadership of Executive Director Adam Cartland, constitutes an amalgamation of the previous Child Protection Unit (CPU), the Professional Standards Office (PSO), and the Screening and Verification Authority (SAVA). The new department formally commenced operations in July 2024.
Our Commitment to the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards
