Fr Philip Marshall

Fr Philip Marshall was Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Adelaide Archdiocese from January 31 2012 to June 2018. He was appointed Administrator Delegate by Apostolic Administrator Bishop Greg O'Kelly SJ in June 2018.

Fr Marshall studied Arts at Adelaide University, completing Honours in Classics. After graduating, he moved to Port Augusta where he worked in the area of community welfare before returning to Adelaide to join the St Francis Xavier Seminary at Rostrevor.

Following his ordination Fr Marshall has served in several parishes, including Hectorville. He played a significant role in establishing the Hectorville Catholic Community, which places a strong focus on the involvement of the whole community in the life of the church and neighbourhood.

Fr Philip Marshall is a Doctor of Philosophy and his locus of study in Canada was well-known Dominican theologian Father Jean-Marie Tillard.

Fr Philip Marshall’s thesis title is “The Local Church: Identity, Relationships and Purposes”: An exploration of the Communion Theologies of John Zizoulas and Jean-Marie Tillard.”
