The Feast of St Josephine Bakhita of South Sudan was held in St Francis Xavier's Cathedral on Sunday, February 11th, 2024 at 2.30pm.

More than 350 people gathered to celebrate this special Feast Day Mass honouring St Bakhita, the patron saint of victims of modern slavery and human trafficking; organised by the African community, and coordinated by Clement Kuek.

The choir was outstanding, with all members  sporting a special uniform to honour St Bakhita with her image on a bright yellow print.

The main celebrant of the Mass celebration was the Archbishop of Adelaide assisted by Deacon Paul Crowe and con celebrated by priests, Fr Dominick Okwadha; Fr Mwaura Gicheha, and our newest Kenyan Priest Father George Ochola.

The Archbishop Patrick O'regan baptised 5 young people with not a cry in the house! And one young man was confirmed and received his first Holy Communion during Mass.

This Celebration is never complete without a beautiful meal, where everyone is welcome and invited- in true African hospitality!
