New Directions is a new program aimed at renewing the pastoral life of the archdiocese. It  draws on the learnings from the Leap Ahead consultation process, the pilot Leap Ahead project involving the Fleurieu parishes and the visit last year of Fr David Couturier - a consultant on pastoral planning - who made a number of recommendations to the Archbishop and the Vicar General. A task force chaired by former government education minister Mr Greg Crafter and comprising representatives of various elements of Church life has been established. There are also three sub-groups looking at key areas of pastoral renewal - young families, youth and pastoral planning.
